Hi there! I’m Justin Scott, a Detroit-based creative with a knack for all things books, brews, and branding.

Over the last 7+ years, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with an incredible range of partners. From independent Sci-Fi authors to Fortune 500 companies. As an award-winning designer and art director, I’ve learned that while the scale of the client may change, my mission remains the same.

I approach every project with a simple set of questions: How can we make this idea memorable? How can we make people feel? And most importantly—what is the most fun way to bring this vision to life?

MY CAREER:

LLYC | Art Director | (2024-Present)

Currently leading art direction for a wide range of clients like Michigan Economic Development Corp., CFP Board, and New Holland Brewing Co. My day-to-day is a mix of high-level concepting and hands-on design. I spend my time mentoring a talented team of creatives and making sure our campaigns feel consistent, whether they’re living on a billboard or a digital screen.

Eastern Market Brewing Co. | Sr. Brand Designer | (2023-2024)

I led the brand evolution for both EMBC and Ferndale Project. The challenge here was balance. With one off experimental small-batch releases, collaboration labels, and keeping the flagship brands recognizable on a crowded shelf. Here I designed everything from cans labels to merch to web assets.

Bow’s Bookshelf | Founder & Creative Director | (2022 - Present)

Alongside my wife, we started an independent publishing house because we’re obsessed with books that look as good as they read. I handle the whole visual identity of Bow’s—everything from our personal identity (logo, website, merch) to every technical detail of our books (covers, formatting, printing). I spend my time working with printers, distributors, illustrators, and most importantly, authors to bring their and our creative visions to life. It’s been a masterclass in communication, leadership, deadlines, and pure determination.

TMV Group | Art Director | (2021 - 2023)

Learned how to move fast and stay sharp in a small scrappy agency. I created execution for some Detroit staples like Faygo and Wayne State University, along with national brands like Segway and Rip It, turning big concepts into integrated campaigns across every format imaginable.

Independent Brand Designer (2018-Present)

As an independent designer, I’ve worked with an array of clients—from independent authors to global names like Scouting America, Lexus, Toyota, and Peterbilt. I’m dedicated to creating great brand identity, book, and product design.
